As we enter the 2016-2017 school year, our committee is working hard to continue to bring you community service events that will provide enriching opportunities for our scholars. We have developed a website will assist you in accessing information about events, print out the 2016-2017 service timesheet, look for pre-approved organizations, read our frequently asked questions and learn more about the optional reflective component as well as the adopt-a-cause community service option.
NUMBER OF HOURS REQUIRED — Every child regardless of grade needs to complete 10 hours of community service per year by May 1st.
TIMESHEETS — Please complete timesheets and have them signed by the activity supervisor as evidence of service completed. All completed forms will need to be turned in to the school, either to your child’s teacher or directly to the office. Please keep copies for your records.
APPROVED ACTIVITIES — All activities need to be pre-approved. Please contact Community Service at firstname.lastname@example.org before your child does any community service that has not been pre-approved. Failing to do so may result in your child not receiving credit for the service.
ADDITIONAL NOTES — AEA scholars need to have adult supervision at all times while providing community service. As our children develop into the leaders of the future, it is our goal to teach the importance of local community involvement.
INCENTIVES FOR EARLY COMPLETION — Students can earn the following if all hours are completed and turned in (including any still not completed from a previous year) by the secified dates:
December 1st — students will earn 100 House points.
February 1st — students will earn 50 house points
March 1st — students will earn 25 house points.
REFLECTIONS — Reflections are optional for hours from the current school year but strongly encouraged. An additional 100 house points can be earned for any child who turns in reflections with their paperwork for this school year. If your child turns in all paperwork with reflections by December 1st, then that is 200 points for their house! We can’t wait to see how hard our scholars have been working to assist our great community!
